Editorial & Review Standards

Last reviewed:

Riskora publishes guidance on UK health and safety documentation — risk assessments, method statements, CDM duties, sector-specific RAMS and competent-person review. Because users may rely on this information when preparing site-safety documents, we treat editorial accuracy as a core product requirement, not a marketing exercise.

Sourcing

Every guide cites primary UK regulatory and standards material. We prefer, in order:

  • HSE publications — INDG, HSG, L-series Approved Codes of Practice (ACOP) and HSE research reports.
  • UK statutory instruments — Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974, MHSWR 1999, CDM 2015, COSHH 2002, LOLER 1998, PUWER 1998, Work at Height 2005 and trade-specific regulations.
  • British and European standards — BS, BS EN and BS ISO standards relevant to the work activity.
  • Industry guidance from named bodies such as CITB, NASC, BAFE, CIRIA, IPAF, FASET and trade-association codes of practice.

Where statistics are quoted, we link the source and the date the figure was published. Generic claims (“most accidents are caused by…”) are not used unless backed by a citation.

Authorship & review

Riskora's safety guidance is produced by an editorial team that includes:

  • Writers with construction industry and technical-writing experience.
  • A reviewer holding a recognised UK occupational safety and health qualification (NEBOSH National General Certificate or higher) for content covering high-risk activities including work at height, excavation, lifting operations, asbestos, confined spaces and hot works.
  • Industry contributors with practitioner experience in their named trade where sector-specific guidance is published.

Reviewer credentials are added to individual guides where the reviewer has signed off the page. Where a page does not yet show an individual reviewer, it has been produced and editorially reviewed by the Riskora editorial team but has not yet completed the named-reviewer process.

Review cycle

Pages are reviewed:

  • At publication — for accuracy, sourcing and clarity.
  • Annually at minimum — every guide carries a Last reviewed date.
  • On regulatory change — when HSE issues a new ACOP, INDG, or amends a regulation that materially changes the guidance, affected pages are reviewed within a reasonable period and the date updated.
  • On reader report — see “Corrections” below.

What our guides do — and do not — provide

What we do: Riskora's guides explain the structure, content and regulatory context of UK safety documentation. They are written to help a competent person prepare, review and improve their own RAMS and risk assessments.

What we do not do: Riskora does not provide legal advice, formal safety consultancy or a regulatory compliance service. Nothing on this site replaces the legal duty of a competent person to assess site-specific risk, nor the duty of an employer or duty-holder under UK health and safety legislation.

Documents produced using the Riskora platform must be reviewed and approved by a competent person before being relied on for site work. The full disclaimer is in our Terms of Service.

Corrections & feedback

If you identify an inaccuracy, an out-of-date reference or a missing control measure on any page, we want to know. Email support@riskora.cloud with the page URL and the proposed correction. Substantive corrections are applied with a visible “Corrected on [date]” note, and the page’s Last reviewed date is updated.

Conflicts of interest

Riskora is a commercial product. Our guides recommend our own RAMS builder where it is genuinely relevant to the topic. We do not accept paid placements, sponsored links or advertising in editorial content. Comparative reviews of competing products are based on publicly available information at the date noted on the page.
