The five tools above were assessed on the live UK web app or the latest publicly demoed build between February and April 2026. Each was given a real RAMS brief — a two-day drainage connection with open excavation over 1.2m, live carriageway interface and a buried-services scan — and the resulting document was timed end-to-end from sign-up to PDF download.

A practical rule: if a rejected RAMS would cost you a day of site access, you have already outgrown templates. Sometimes — with two specific caveats. A free tool will produce an acceptable RAMS when the work is genuinely low-risk, non-notifiable, and the hazards are ones you can enumerate from memory.
